Never again is now! Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Good Corporate Governance from the ESG criteria must not be empty words. Every company bears responsibility for the society in which it is embedded, from which it recruits employees and acquires customers (see our Code of Conduct). That is why we clearly stand with Israel and with the Jews – especially in Germany. Our social responsibility as a company includes taking a clear position wherever we see the unifying values of our society under urgent thread. Even if the causes often lie abroad.
For example, following the terrorist attacks in France on November 13, 2015, we declared our commitment to defending freedom. Back then, Islamists killed 130 women, men and children in Paris. 89 of them were slaughtered during a concert at the Bataclan theater alone. We were in good company, back then. There was a wave of solidarity from many large companies worldwide. From Amazon to Microsoft and Michelin to Zalando.
Of course, we took crystal clear position after Putin startet Russia’s war of aggression against the people of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which is still barbaric and clearly agains international law. We stand on the side of the Ukrainian people, which since then fights heroically against dictatorship, oppression, destruction and expulsion and thus also for our values.
Never again is now!
Now we are doing it again: We are clearly on Israel‘s side in this dispute in the Middle East. Our sympathy goes out to all the victims. First and foremost, the victims of the massacre perpetrated by Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023. The murderers insidiously and bestially extinguished over 1,300 Jewish lives. That was and still is an urgent thread to our unifying values as a society.
Therefore, we stand with the Jews all over the world – especially in Germany. »Never again« refers to the Holocaust and the Jewish heroism (»Never again shall Masada fall«). Given the fact that these days Jews are again being attacked, we say quite clearly: Never again is now!
To make this clear as well: We are by no means supporting Israel lightly or uncritically, as a very personal article by our founder Dr. Dominik Faust on LinkedIn (»Shalom Israel!«) makes clear. But we do it out of conviction.
Together we must stop new hatred!
The resulting new war has already cost thousands Palestinian lives and will take even more. Thousands and thousands of survivors on both sides are already going and will then go through those emotions we describe in our daily business as »change curve«.
This terminus technicus always sounds strangely laconic when it conceals great human suffering, as in Israel, in the Gaza Strip, in Ukraine, in Morocco, in Libya. And not least, when it describes that at the end of the emotional roller coaster (aka change curve), new hatred can arise.
Let us make every effort to prevent this from happening. Together.
