Communication can’t replace change management but is key to success of any change initiative or transformation.
Communication is successful when those involved actively embrace the change and are willing to adopt new habits. Experts in change communications must therefore be empathetic, speak the language(s) of blue-collar and white-collar staff, and be able to adapt their messages to different emotional states. Executives are solely responsible for communicating change.

They know that communicating is the only way to build trust, engage employees, reduce resistance to change, as well as to reduce productivity losses, prevent the exodus of skilled workers and flatten the change curve.
However, this additional workload and the significant responsibility outlined above often exceed the available human resources. In our role as active sparring partners and initiators, we develop communication strategies and editorial plans. Because transformation communications must first and foremost generate awareness, we focus in particular on live communication formats, which we design and host. Why are we uniquely qualified for this?
Communication is the cornerstone of viadoo Change Guides. For 20 years now, we have been developing and implementing communication strategies for SMEs and DAX 40 companies to enable them to implement their change initiatives or transformations successfully and sustainably.

If you want to motivate people to change their behavior, for example, you have to reach their hearts (emotions). The way to do this is through their brain. This is because the brain internalizes new behaviors more quickly when they are packaged in stories. Stories, in turn, synchronize the brain waves of senders and receivers, creating a shared reality.
We use these scientific findings in change communication in the form of (business) storytelling. Our stories are true, have a protagonist with whom the audience can identify, and have a dramatic arc, a change for the better. We use the storytelling method for CEO communication in change projects, for example.

Transformation communications is very complex. It not only needs to be closely aligned with the transformation as such and its overall progress (btw: that’s why TransfoComms needs to be part of the Transformation Office). Transformation communications also needs to be done permanently.
This is why we strongly recommend to use a Corporate Newsroom to interact with your people during a transformation. From there, dialogues can be managed centrally and effectively. Interdisciplinary teams plan topics & stories and distribute content across the company’s media channels.
